Sally Fitzgibbons has gone back-to-back on the winner's dais, first claiming the Rio Women's Pro over Carissa Moore last week and now clinching the Fiji Women's Pro over Stephanie Gilmore. From the punchy beachbreaks of Barra da Tijuca to the open ocean reef pass of Cloudbreak, Fitzgibbons has demonstrated her impressive range of talent as well as the adaptability and diversity of her equipment in recent weeks.
For the Fiji Women's Pro, the young Australian blended the expertise of renowned North Shore shaper Jon Pyzel with her tried and tested relationship with Firewire to develop a quiver that was performance-based but also durable for the heavy waters of Cloudbreak and Restaurants.

"Looking at the forecast for this event, I didn't think I would need very big boards," said Fitzgibbons. "The swell obviously delivered better than we anticipated and after I broke my bigger board earlier in the day, I moved to my 6'0" step-up from Pyzel Firewire. The board worked great and gave me a lot of confidence in executing maneuvers out in those conditions. Working with Jon and Nev has been really beneficial for me and I'm thankful for getting such great boards"
"I was extremely proud to see Sally win on one of our shapes in Fiji," Pyzel said. "We've been working on giving her a bunch of boards and seeing what works and what doesn't. The model she was on is called the 'Next Step', it's the board John John was riding last year in Fiji. It has a rounded pin tail, but it's a lot more rounded and designed to perform like a shortboard - just a little more solid in waves of consequence. Super proud and looking forward to working more with her."
